A Adidas announced, this Friday (20), the launch of a special support t-shirt Rio Grande do Sulwhich experienced serious problems related to rain and flooding in the first half of the year. The choice of this date was not without reason, because September 20 is known as Gaucho Day, in honor of one of the most important historical episodes of the Gaucho community, the Farroupilha Revolution, which began on September 20, 1835.
Called “We Play Together for the South”, the shirts will have all proceeds donated to the renovation of sports spaces affected by the climate disaster that has hit the region, in partnership with Central Única das Favelas (Cufa).
According to Adidas, this is also a joint action, in which partner suppliers are invited to take part in the development and production of the product: Agência EA, Grupo Dass, Rialgraf and Meiuca.
Among the names called to be part of the launch were Luiz Felipe Scolari, known as Felipãogaucho and coach of the Brazilian national team’s fifth title at the 2002 World Cup. He shared the spotlight with current and former players such as Alan Patrick, Andrés D’Alessandro, Thiago Maia, Analuyza França and Tamara Paranaguá.
“Adidas is a long-standing partner of Cufa. For us, it is very important to have the support of the brand and many important Brazilian sports athletes in the reconstruction of the sports space in our state, which suffered and is still suffering in the recovery after the heavy rains that have hit us”, said Kalyne Lima, president of Cufa Nacional.
The shirt will be a limited edition, with 5,570 pieces available, and will come in special packaging. The number refers to the number of municipalities in Brazil and symbolizes the feeling of everyone “Together for the South”, which is still in the process of rebuilding.
The cut is predominantly white, with a ribbon in the colors of the Rio Grande do Sul flag (green, red and yellow) on the chest. There is also an Adidas logo and a special shield in the shape of a map of Brazil at chest level. Finally, the sleeves also have green, red and yellow details.
