“Find and Destroy”. Review of a book by a Polish volunteer who fought in Ukraine

News

Piotr Mitkiewicz has basically been on the Ukrainian front since the beginning. He joined the international legion right after the Russian invasion of Kyiv. A few weeks later he was on the battlefield. Why was he there? This is the question that actually begins the interview conducted by Wiktor Świetlik. The answer is not at all clear. The hero of the book himself says that he wanted to die heroically and that was his main motivation. Later, another desire emerged: the desire to fight evil. However, I think the closest reason to the truth is the one that Mitkiewicz gave half-jokingly: “I like to fight.”
