The intelligence and video surveillance systems managed by the municipality of Torreón will be strengthened, connecting the cameras in the self-service stores, the Revolución stadium and the municipal auditorium, among others that gather large numbers of people, in order to increase surveillance and influence the reduction of crimes .

Mayor Roman Alberto Cepeda Gonzalez said that this measure was agreed upon during the weekly security meeting that took place this Friday, with the assistance of Public Security Secretary Federico Fernandez Montanez and the heads of all agencies involved in the problem.

Cepeda Gonzalez explained that this strategy will focus on monitoring the surveillance cameras found in the parking lots of the self-service stores, in the stadium and in the hall.

“Any place where there may be a vulnerability to commit a crime such as vehicle theft, disorderly conduct or any type of crime should be monitored,” he stressed.

The municipality has installed more than 140 kilometers of optical fibers that can be used for this purpose, in addition to the 500 cameras that make up the video surveillance system in the city and those of the state government.

“These retail chains and event centers will be invited to connect to public security video surveillance,” the mayor said.
