A man is suspected of killing his wife, aged 39, and his two daughters, aged 13 and 14, in the town of Custodia, Sertão de Pernambuco, on Tuesday night (15).
According to unofficial information, he tied up the victims before setting fire to the residence where they lived in Sítio Santana. The couple’s third son managed to escape as he was not at home at the time of the crime as he had spent the night outside.
The suspect managed to escape. The Civil Police of Pernambuco (PCPE) said they were investigating “fires and the completed murder of women”.
“A police investigation has commenced and no further information can be released at this time in order not to impede the progress of the enquiries,” the corporation said in a statement.
The crime shocked the population of the Custody. Friends, neighbors and townspeople expressed great sadness and solidarity with the family of the victims.
Police are also asking for the community’s support to help catch the suspect. Any information that may contribute to the investigation should be reported to the authorities immediately.
