After Wednesday (16), marked by the hijacking of nine buses by criminals who blocked the Estrada do Itanhangá in the areas of Musema and Tijuquinha, Bope’s agents spent the night in the region. On Thursday morning (17) shots were heard which frightened the residents.
Due to criminal actions, Several bus lines had changed routesforcing many passengers to make the journey on foot. During the encounter, a BOPE police officer was hit by shrapnel.
The police operation was triggered after an attempted raid on the Rio das Pedras community, known as a militia stronghold. The situation remains tense, with security forces still present in the region.
