Two buses have been hijacked in the northern area of ​​Rio

Two buses they were kidnapped by criminals this thursday morning (17) on Pastor Martin Luther King and Automóvel Clube avenues, in addition to Estrada de Botafogo, between the neighborhoods of Pavuna and Costa Barros, in the northern zone of Rio.

The military police reported that the action took place while officers from the 41st BPM (Irajá) were conducting an operation in the Complexo da Pedreira. The hijacked vehicles belong to lines B11505 and B11507, which run between Pavuna and Cascadura.

According to a note published by Rio busin the last 12 months, 134 vehicles were stolen by criminals in various incidents. Lines operating in the area are subject to route diversions due to the uncertain situation.

A recent attack

The situation of bus hijackings in the city have raised concern, especially after a similar incident that happened on Wednesday (16)when nine buses were hijacked and used as barricades on the Estrada do Itanhangá, in the Western Zone, during an operation by the Special Operations Battalion (Bope) in the community of Tijuquinha.
