Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar ‘eliminated’ in Gaza? Israeli army says “check”

“During army operations in the Gaza Strip, three terrorists were eliminated,” the army said in a statement. Israeli forces are “investigating the possibility that one of the terrorists is Yahya Sinwar” and “at this stage the identity of the terrorists cannot be confirmed,” the statement added. The army emphasizes that “in the building where the terrorists were liquidated, there were no signs of the presence of hostages in the vicinity”.

One of the organizers of the October 7 attack

Yahya Sinwar, a radical activist and shadowy figure, is believed to be one of the masterminds of the October 7 attack on Israel, along with Islamist military leader Mohammed Deif. Aged 61 and the leader since 2017 of the Palestinian Islamist movement in Gaza, he was named the political leader of Hamas following the death of Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed in Tehran on July 31 in an attack blamed on Israel.

Israel has already announced that it killed Mohammed Deif on July 13 in the Gaza Strip, but Hamas has not confirmed his death.
