Israel’s military said it was “examining the possibility” of killing Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
A statement read: “During IS operations in Gaza, three terrorists were eliminated.”
He added: “The IDF and ISA are investigating the possibility that one of the terrorists is Yahya Sinwar. At this stage, the identity of the terrorists cannot be confirmed.
“In the building where the terrorists were eliminated, there were no signs of hostages in the area.
“Forces operating in the area continue to operate with due caution.”
This came after unconfirmed photos showing Sinwar’s lifeless body went viral on social media.
