The former president of the United States Donald Trump plans to carry out mass deportations of Haitians if re-elected, reports “Press“. At a campaign rally in Miami, Trump pushed back on unsubstantiated claims that Haitian immigrants eat pets.

Trump said, “I would send them back to their country.” Many Haitians came to the country under a program created by the Biden administration that allows temporary residency for participants with U.S. sponsors.

Local authorities have denied Trump’s claims

At an event in Miami for Latino voters, Trump said Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were stealing pets and eating wild animals in parks. “I just said what was reported,” Trump said.

However, local authorities dismissed these claims as false. “There are no reports of Haitians eating pets,” a police spokesman said. The city received bomb threats after Trump’s comments. Springfield Mayor Rob Rew and Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine called the rumors false and harmful to the community. DeWine emphasized that Haitians have a positive impact on the local economy and community, reports “CNN“.
