The end of the scandal? Wyborcza has broken off cooperation with Kącki

The end of Marcin Kącki’s career at “Gazeta Wyborcza” has become a fact. The newspaper broke off cooperation with the journalist and cited “only editorial issues” as the reason. However, it is hard to believe because in early 2024, Kącki was accused by one of the journalists of behaving inappropriately towards her and other women. Then Marcin Kącki was suspended from “Wyborcza”.

In the case of Kącki’s “inappropriate behavior”, “Gazeta Wyborcza” created a separate internal commission, created, curiously, at the request of the journalist himself.

The results of the editorial committee’s work were presented to Marcin. Since we differed significantly in their assessment, we jointly decided that our future cooperation is not possible.

– wrote in the “GW” statement, signed by three of its deputy editors.

However, the publishers have not commented on the matter since the beginning of the year, as they stressed that the reason for such a decision “are purely editorial issues”.

Rogaska accuses

Marcin Kącki’s professional problems began in early 2024, when the journalist revealed in one of his publications his problems with alcohol, family and health problems, as well as numerous contacts with different women.

I liked the company of women because I felt safe with them, cared for, because all my heroes are male demons of destruction and I have never met bad women, and I have almost always loved a lot, including for myself.

– the advertiser then confessed.

This text, as expected, did not go unnoticed and journalist Karolina Rogaska publicly accused Kącki of “inappropriate behavior” towards her and other women. In short, the allegations concerned Kącki forcing them to perform sexual acts with them.

When the story became public, Gazeta Wyborcza decided to suspend the journalist.

The Polish School of Reporting also broke off cooperation with him and in January 2024 issued a special statement on this matter.

Karolina Rogaska is a graduate of the Polish School of Reporting and our friend. A few weeks ago we found out that she had been hurt by Marcin Kącki. We removed him from working with PSR students and informed him about the reasons for this decision.

– it was written then.

Aleksandra Sobczak, deputy editor-in-chief of “Wyborcza”, said that she condemned Marcin Kącki’s behavior, calling him “attacking”, but on the other hand appreciated the fact that he confessed and expressed remorse, which she assessed as sincere.

No one regrets publicly anymore

– she added.
