TVN’s strength is its proven formats
One experiment in the case of TVN is the weekday broadcast of a new documentary soap opera, “B&B Love,” which appears in the current “Millionaires” slot, that is, from Monday to Thursday at 8:50 p.m. Last season, the channel premiered new series, “Klara” and “Murderczynie.” The first, an adaptation of the novel by Izabela Kuna, airs on Wednesdays at 11:05 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. “Murderers,” the second series to premiere this fall, airs on Mondays at 10:35 p.m., right after “Total Renovations of Szelągowska.”
Proven formats that returned with premiere episodes include: “MasterChef”, “Top Model” and “Azja Express”. “Autentyczni” will also return to TVN’s autumn offering and will include more seasons of “Marriage at First Sight”, “. Kuba Wojewódzki” or “Kitchen Revolutions”, new episodes of “Na Wspólnej” or “Detektywy”. The 15th season of “Women at the End of the World” will be broadcast on Sundays at 12:00. In late autumn, the program will include “Lego Masters” (in a new version the program will be released from the studio) and a new show “Unboxing”.
The breakfast program is a challenge for Polsat
The biggest new addition to Polsat’s schedule seems to be the morning show “Halo tu Polsat” broadcast from Friday to Sunday from 8:00 to 11:00. It has three pairs of hosts: Krzysztof Ibisz and Paulina Sykut-Jeżyna, Maciej Rock and Agnieszka Hyży, and Katarzyna Cichopek and Maciej Kurzajewski.
Among the proven formats known to viewers, such productions as “Dancing with the Stars” will have their premiere episodes this fall. “Dancing with the Stars” (Sunday evening), “Your Face Sounds Familiar” (Friday evening), the program “Our New Home” and the series “Przyjaciółki” (Thursday evening). New productions on the station include: the program “Malanowski. New Deal”, “Special Forces of Poland” (Tuesday evening), “My Mom and Your Dad” (Wednesday evening).
– Autumn 2024 promises to be extremely hot, of course none of the seasons want to be at the back of the pack – Many new products have been prepared, but also those formats that have enjoyed unwavering popularity for years have been retained – comments Radosław Zamieciński, Head of Video at Havas Media Network to Wirtualnemedia.pl. According to Bartosz Zientek, President of Media Context agency, significant changes in the programming of major broadcasters today have more to do with retaining viewers than with acquiring new ones.
TVP can fight for viewers
– TVP, together with political changes and its programming changes, may be the only one capable of fighting for a new viewer – says Zientek. He estimates that among the novelties of Polish television What deserves the most attention are programs that aim to compete for a more “sophisticated” viewer, or a new viewer, such as the program by Agata Passent and professor Jerzy Bralczyk. –
– Will TVP, in addition to fulfilling its mission with these programs, be able to increase its audience or at least not reduce the audience of these bands? It may turn out that this will actually be a real alternative to entertainment items on commercial stations. At the same time, updating several iconic items of TVP – i.e. the return of Robert Janowski to “Jaka to Melody”, Radosław Kotarski in VaBanque, or an attempt to revive TV Theatre – may actually have a positive impact on the ratings results – says Bartosz Zientek.
Radosław Zamieciński is surprised by the number of new products that will be broadcast on public broadcasters. Among others, their strong positions include the following series: “Profilerka”, “Game with Shadows”, “Coffee with Cardamom”, “Crusade”. – Of course, the broadcaster does not give up on the biggest and smallest hits, and sports seem to be the focus in the autumn, many viewers will probably be attracted by the broadcasts of the Champions League matches. The presented schedule looks strong and has a chance to become one of the most profitable this autumn – the expert says.
No revolution on TVN
According to Bartosz Zientek, the changes to TVN’s autumn schedule are more of a refinement than a renewal. Our interlocutor believes that shifts [programów] on weekends in the band after “Facts” aim to maintain the audience of the news band, which has long been the undisputed leader, and proven successes in this band are to ensure the success of this solution.
– TVN also paid a lot of attention to the refreshing “Dzień Dobry TVN”, which is obviously caused by the new competitor from Polsat – notes Bartosz Zientek. He points out that, apart from the new series that appear in TVN’s schedule almost every year, in the case of this broadcaster we have “only” two new ones.
– A new format of “B&B Love”, which is a bit like “The Farmer Wants a Wife”, only in a different setting, and “Unboxing”, which is a format in cooperation with the Amazon brand. The latter format shows the direction that the creation of new programming items may take in the coming years – after the “Lego Masters” format, or previously the “MasterChef” format (in cooperation with Makro), proved to be a success, stations may be more and more willing to use programs dedicated to specific advertisers – emphasizes Zientek.
In the opinion of Radosław Zamieciński changes to TVN’s programming are bold and even somewhat risky decisions that could give it a certain advantage in the fight for viewers in the weekend night broadcast– On Saturday and Sunday, right after “Fakty”, that is, at 7:30 pm, the big hits start, namely the return of “Azja Express” and “MasterChef” – the idea of ”tying” the viewer to a certain channel in advance is a poker trick and the question remains whether it will be successful – says the expert from Havas Media Network.
He adds that TVN’s other offerings, such as “Top Model”, “Kitchen Revolutions”, “Woman at the End of the World”, “Kuba Wojewódzki”, “Na Wspólnej”, “Millionaires”, “Lego Masters. Direction Poland”, “Marriage at First Sight” show that it will be very difficult for the competition to find a band in which TVN does not have a strong format.
Polsat builds on Edward Miszczak’s experience
Bartosz Zientek believes that in the case of Polsat The greatest expectations and interest are aroused by the morning program “Halo tu Polsat”, which will fight against strong and consolidated competition. – I think that here we will have to wait longer to evaluate the results, because after the first broadcasts it will be difficult to assess whether the program was a success or a failure, because it is a format for which continuity and long-term construction of the viewer base are crucial – emphasizes the expert.
He believes that the program “Special Forces”, which replaces “Ninja Warrior Polska” in the schedule, theoretically thanks to the similarity of the program, should guarantee the maintenance of the audience in this range, as the last editions of its predecessor did not perform so well.
– It is clear that Polsat is beginning to take advantage of the experience brought by Edward Miszczak, because the presence of Kasia Cichopek in the second new prime-time program is to ensure interest in this format, especially since she is also one of the main presenters of Polsat’s new morning program – says Bartosz Zientek.
According to Radosław Zamieciński, the cabarets returning to Polsat have a difficult task, because the change in their broadcasting time (from Sunday to Saturday) does not make the fight for viewers easier – the competition will be, for example, “Azja Expresso” on TVN. Our interlocutor believes that The reality shows “My Mom and Your Dad” and the series “Sins of the Neighbors” have the potential to be hits, while “Your Face Sounds Familiar” and “Dancing with the Stars” can count on their loyal audiences. “Dancing with the Stars”.
The struggle not to lose the viewer
– The main antennas do not lay down their weapons and arm themselves quite a bit when they fall. But I get the impression that this is more of a defensive tactic than an attempt to win over new viewers. Given the high demand for advertising time in recent years, broadcasters don’t need to convince advertisersand “just” strive to lose as few viewers as possible – because there is no need to explain that viewers tend to leave the main antennas – summarizes Bartosz Zientek.
– Autumn promises to be extremely exciting from the viewer’s perspective, the Big Three have brought out their biggest weapons and displayed some trinkets – it promises to be a tough fight, one thing is for sure, no one should be left without ammunition – adds the Havas Media Networks expert.
