A cyclist died late Tuesday afternoon in Paris after being hit by a car after an argument with the car’s driver, Agence France-Presse (AFP) learned on Wednesday (October 16th) from the prosecutor’s office, which opened a homicide investigation.

The cyclist, 27 years old, died “on the public highway, boulevard Malesherbes” in the western part of the capital, “at 5:45 p.m. after a collision with a motor vehicle driver”according to the Paris prosecutor’s office, confirming information from Actu17 site.

The driver, aged 52, was arrested at the scene. His teenage daughter, born in 2007, was in the car. The first witnesses “take a voluntary attitude of the driver during the movement of the car towards the cyclist”we specified from the same source.

The investigation of the murder is entrusted to 1is judicial police district.

In 2023, 226 cyclists died on France’s roads. For the third year in a row, the threshold of 200 deaths has been passed.
