In Gia Coppola’s (37) The Last Showgirl, Anderson plays Shelly, a dancer who has performed in one of the last shows remaining in Las Vegas for over 30 years. When she gets fired, she has to say goodbye to the glamour world and start a new life. Other roles include her boss, Dave Bautista (55), and her waitress and best friend, Jamie Lee Curtis (65).

For Pamela Anderson, who has always been in the spotlight for her acting chops, the serious role in “The Last Showgirl” is a dream come true. “I think I’ve been preparing for this my whole life,” she said Friday night in Toronto, according to Variety. Coppola also stressed that no one else could play the part but Anderson.
Just reading the script was a new experience for the actor. “It was the first time I had read a good, coherent script,” said Anderson, who appeared at the premiere in an elegant black suit. “At that point, I thought, ‘I’m the only one who can do this. I have nothing to lose, so let’s just do it.’” She has never “felt so strongly about a role” in her life.
It is not yet known when ‘The Last Showgirl’ will be released in German cinemas. Distribution rights are held by Constantin Films and a release is expected this fall.
