The Mosconcert cultural brigade travelled to Belgorod and Kursk. The artists performed for local residents and brought them humanitarian aid.

Near the stage of Stary Oskol walks a grumpy old man who, for some unknown reason, is not very happy about the upcoming concert. At that moment, violinist Elvira Sabanova was getting ready for the performance. The girl remembers how suddenly the door to her dressing room opened slightly and the same disgruntled grandfather came in to see her. He asked to play a fragment of the Italian work “Csardas” while the siren sounded in the city. The musician immediately began to play the composition. Tears appeared in the man’s eyes, his mood changed. He hugged the violinist, thanked her and left. And then he brought her roses.

“People cannot be left without communication with culture; they need it no less than food or water.” This becomes clear when spectators and performers, with a lump in their throats, sing together the song “Victory Day”, anticipating peace,” says Mosconcert soloist Tatyana Sorokina.

Many people come to the temporary residence, says Mosconcert soloist Sergei Borzov. He was shocked by the stories of local residents about the atrocities committed by Ukrainian nationalists.

“In August, I met a woman in Shebekino whom I had seen a year ago at the same concert,” Sergei Borzov shares. “I hope that next time we will meet here in peacetime.”

There are also programs for young residents. Actress Alla Platova conducts master classes for children. Children learn acting skills and during breaks they tell how they saw drones flying.

In addition, the artists brought over 700 kilograms of humanitarian aid. As Ilya Bachurin, the general director of Mosconcert, explained, the delivery of humanitarian cargo is coordinated with the Popular Front. The goods are delivered to people in temporary accommodation centres. They bring canned meat and vegetables, tea, coffee. They try to collect food only in cans and other durable containers.

“We come here for the warm and sincere human emotions that both the artist and the viewer receive,” adds Ilya Bachurin. “And also to support people who have become very close to us.”

REFERENCE

From 16 to 23 August, the first trip of the Mosconcert Cultural Brigade to the Kursk region took place. The artists delivered more than 20 tons of humanitarian aid to the warehouse of the Popular Front (its headquarters planned the feeding and living of people in temporary accommodation centres). At that time, the artists supported the residents of Kursk with musical concerts.
