Harry Styles on Liam Payne’s death: ‘It was an honor to be by his side’

Harry Styles spoke on Thursday night (17) about the death of Liam Payne, his former One Direction bandmate.

In an emotional statement, the “As It Was” singer expressed his devastation at the loss of his friend, describing Liam as someone whose greatest joy was making people happy.

He said it was an honor to be by Liam’s side and highlighted the contagious energy the singer has for life, in addition to his warm, supportive and loving nature.

“I am truly devastated by Liam’s death.

His greatest joy was making other people happy and it was an honor to be by his side as he did so.

Liam lived intensely, with his heart on his sleeve, he had an energy for life that was contagious. He was warm, supportive and incredibly loving. The years we spent together will forever remain among the most precious in my life. I will always miss you dear friend.

My heart goes out to Karen, Jeff, Nicola and Ruth, their son Bear and everyone in the world who knew and loved him as I did.
