Happy birthday, Asha Bhosle. The legendary singer turns 91 today (September 8). To celebrate the special day, Asha’s granddaughter Zanai Bhosle posted a series of pictures on Instagram. In the first photo, a loving granddaughter holds her hand on her grandmother’s shoulder. The following photo captures an honest, joyful moment between the two. In the last picture, Zanai warmly kisses Asha Bhosle’s forehead. In her caption, Zanai wrote: “Happy birthday to my friend and partner in crime!!! 91 never looked better!!” TV actor Hrishikesh Pandey said in the message, “Happy birthday Asha ji, wishing you all the happiness and good health always.”
Zanai Bhosle is all set to make her Bollywood debut. Asha Bhosle’s granddaughter plays Shivaji Maharaj’s wife Rani Sai Bhonsale in the film titled Pride of Bharat – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
In March 2024, Asha Bhosle announced the debut of Zanai by sharing a message on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “Really happy to see my lovely granddaughter Zanai Bhosle joining the film world in the upcoming grand epic #ThePrideofBharat Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.” The grandmother also had a beautiful wish for Zanai, adding, “I sincerely hope she achieves her destined place in film history and wish her and Sandeep Singh all the best.”
The film is also the theatrical directorial debut of Sandeep Singh. In a video shared by Asha Bhosle, she is heard praising Zanai. “I feel very honored and absolutely privileged to launch Zanai, who is a scion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s family and shares his lineage with an extremely brilliant and successful family with late Lata Mangeshkar ji as his aunt and Asha Bhosaleji as his granddaughter.” said the filmmaker.
Sandeep Singh continued, “She is a proud Bhosle who already has a gifted soulful voice and an ear for music. But few know what a talented dancer and accomplished performer she is. She does full justice to the character of Rani Sai Bai. As Shivaji Maharaj’s wife Rani Sai Bai had contributed immensely to his growth as a king and as a man.”
