40,000 sandbags will be used to raise the top of the embankments in Marszowice, Wrocław. The idea is to protect the Marszowice 1 and Marszowice 2 housing estates from possible flooding from the Bystrzyca River.
The raising of the embankments in Marszowice is a reaction to the increased water discharge from the Mietków dam to Bystrzyca. Soldiers and firefighters work at the scene.
Mayor of Wroclaw Jacek Sutryk announced on social media that the landfills will be partially wrapped and will need to be elevated uniformed services will use 40,000 sandbags.
“Embankments need to be raised by one and a half metersto secure settlements. If there is a need for evacuation, we will take buses to the location,” Sutryk wrote on social media.
