Telewizja wPolce.pl began broadcasting in June 2017. It can be watched via the satellite platform Polsat Box (formerly Cyfrowy Polsat), (channel 196) and Polsat Box Go, Netia (channel 192), Orange (channel 32), Vectra (channel 825) UPC Polska (channel 339 on Mediabox set-top boxes and 121 on Kaon and Horizon set-top boxes), as well as on the Internet. September 2 this year the station was replaced by wPolce24. In June, the National Broadcasting Council decided that the news and current affairs channel under this name would be broadcast on the eighth digital terrestrial television multiplex.
A terrestrial license allows not only broadcasting on multiplexes, but also via cable and satellite networks. Fratry could therefore ask the National Broadcasting Council to revoke the license of the wPolsce.pl satellite. However, this would require re-signing contracts with pay-TV providers and registering in the register. After Event 24 obtained a new terrestrial license and the existing one was acquired by Polsat News Polityka, Polsat Television took half a year to rebuild the station’s coverage. Fratria took no risks and decided to change its name.

Member of the National Broadcasting Council, Prof. Tadeusz Kowalski told Wirtualnemedia.pl that he was against such a change because the announcement concerned a new program. However, the council took a different decision and the station, among others with Michał Adamczyk, Magdalena Ogórek, Marcin Tulicki and Samuel Pereira, will be able to have two licenses with the same name – terrestrial and satellite.
The Republic adopted a different strategy
The competition for MUX-8 was also won by Telewizja Republika, which hosted the Republika station. The station has been broadcasting via satellite since 2013. After the start of terrestrial broadcasting in July, the terrestrial and satellite signals were no different, which is why there were rumors that the broadcaster was violating the license. The satellite is universal and the terrestrial is informative and journalistic. In August, programming offered on terrestrial channels and pay TV operators was branded with Republika (the signature “Republic” appeared under the logo with the letter R).
Last month, an additional channel called TV Republika Plus was launched (the channel has not requested a formal name change). The channel is more universal because it broadcasts entertainment, historical and culinary programs from TV Republika in some bands. The additional channel also broadcasts Polish fairy tales, such as “The Kidnapping of Baltazar Gąbki”, “The Adventures of Bolek and Lolek” and “Reksio”. The authorities of the Republic do not rule out that there will be a formal name change and the launch of additional channels in the future. Republika Plus TV can be watched on the Internet (YouTube) and via digital terrestrial television MUX-L2 (Rybnik and surroundings).
Republika Terrestre is broadcast on all pay TV operators where it broadcasts via satellite (including Polsat Box/Polsat Box Go, Canal+/Can+ online, UPC Polska/Play, Orange Polska, Vectra, Netia and Toya). Tomasz Sakiewicz Station, where you can watch, among others, Danuta Holecka, Edyta Lewandowska, Michał Rachoń, Miłosz Kłeczek, Adrian Klarenbach, so she didn’t have to build the range from scratch.
