The two German national hockey teams will have to settle the qualifying round for the 2025 home European Championships in Mönchengladbach from August 8 to 17. The Olympic silver medallist DHB men’s team will face the European Championship runners-up Great Britain, France and Poland in Group B. At the 2023 European Championships, also held in Mönchengladbach, national team coach Andre Henning missed out on a medal.
The German women’s team, which finished third at last year’s European Championships, are playing Olympic champions Netherlands, Ireland and France in Group A. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.
“From a sporting perspective, the group brings together top-class hockey. The European team has already impressed at the Olympics and will be looking to impress again in Mönchengladbach next summer,” said DHB sporting director Martin Schultze.
