A woman recorded the exact moment she experienced a robbery attempt while applying makeup in her car at Elevado Presidente João Goulart, known as Minhocão, in downtown São Paulo. The incident occurred at around 09:14 on September 11.

Giovanna Fornagieri, 25, was a marketing consultant and was on her way to work when she was struck by a thief. She took advantage of the fact that the lighthouse was closed to apply make-up using her phone’s camera, when criminals tried to break the car window to steal the device.
Thieves would have to hit the glass four times before breaking it, due to the vehicle’s protective coating. Despite her fear, Giovanna managed to get her phone in time, and the criminal ran away without taking anything.
Giovanna shared the video on social media and the scene quickly went viral, reaching millions of views. He reported that after the attack, he had to return home with a tow truck because his vehicle was damaged. The case drew attention to the activities of the so-called “elbow gang”, which carried out speedy robberies of cars stopped at traffic lights.
