Apple is gearing up for its “It’s Glowtime” event, which will take place today, Monday, September 9, at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. CEO Tim Cook and other executives are set to announce the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max and, if the rumors are true, at least one new Apple Watch and two new pairs of AirPods, but sure to announce . .
It has plenty of new gadgets to make your head spin and even more financial hits if you want to invest. Apple products are not far from the cheapest on the market. That’s why the iPhone SE has always been such a popular iPhone choice—a cheaper iPhone with up-to-date internal specs in an older model’s body.
The formula worked well for the 2022 iPhone SE, which had the same processor and specs as the iPhone 13, but the same body as the 2018 iPhone 8. It’s the last remaining iPhone to come with a Home button, and there are whispers of Apple preparing the fourth-generation iPhone SE to replace it.
But if you were hoping this new affordable iPhone would break cover tomorrow, you’re probably going to be disappointed. The new iPhone SE is believed to be announced in early 2025, possibly in March.
This fits with Apple releasing the previous three iPhone SE models, roughly six months after the most recent iPhone event. According to various reports, the next SE will be announced in March 2025.
This could mean we get a cheaper iPhone with the internals of the rumored iPhone 16 that will be released tomorrow. Leaks suggest that the iPhone SE will finally ditch the Home button, opting for a design similar to the iPhone 13 and 14 with a notch instead of the newer Dynamic Island.
Another way Apple can keep the price down is allegedly by placing only one camera on the back of the phone – just like all iPhone SE models so far.
It’s likely that all new iPhone 16 phones will cost north of £799, so if you need a new iPhone but don’t want to break the bank, you might want to wait until the iPhone SE 4 comes out. While it’s not certain, widespread rumors suggest it’s around six months away, and hopefully won’t cost more than £499.
