Very unequal rates depending on the sector of activity. Among the most affected sectors, human health and social action ranks first with an absence rate of 8.3% in 2023. This situation is caused by an average work stoppage of almost one month per year (27 days in 2023). There are several phenomena behind this: sometimes difficult work, odd working hours, or even stress at work.
Transportation, hotels and catering
Transport and warehousing professions, such as order pickers, were also affected by absenteeism (7.5%) and their average duration of absence was 33 days per year.
Not to mention the hospitality and catering industry, which had the longest average downtime in 2023. On average, a catering employee was out of work for 39 days last year. A figure that can be explained by difficult working conditions and excessive workload. Especially since the restaurant industry has difficulty recruiting employees, increasing the risk of overwork.
