Actor Vicky Kaushal on Tuesday said that western filmmakers feel the need to make such films The Avengers because they don’t have ‘real superheroes’ like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
The actor plays Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in his upcoming film Coughdirected by Laxman Utekar. The season drama premieres on December 6.
Vicky was speaking at a special event held at Chitra Cinemas where she and Utekar screened the teaser of the film produced by Maddock Films to fans.
The National Award winner said he is honored to play a Maratha warrior who was the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an actor. The whole team has worked hard on this movie. I always say that the West feels the need to make movies like ‘The Avengers’ because they don’t have superheroes like we do. We have real superheroes.”
“If we look at the history of India, we find so many superheroes like Sambhaji, Chhatrapati Shivaji that all other superheroes fail before them. It is important to tell such stories and celebrate with people. We are proud of them. It is because of their courage and sacrifice that we can live in this beautiful country,” Vicky said.
The creators officially released the first glimpse into the world Cough on social media on Monday, days after its teaser premiered in theaters alongside screenings of Maddock Films’ latest offering, Stree 2 .
The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Chatrapati Maharani Yesuba, wife of Sambhaji and Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
