Motorola is onto something with the Edge 50 Neo – last week’s survey results show it could be a very popular device. It’s not for everyone, and people have had valid complaints, but Moto has indeed found an unfilled niche in the current mobile market, and it could reap the rewards for it.
The results are pretty clear – people are interested in the phone, but would like to see a detailed review before making a final decision. We’re working on that, so stay tuned.
Some commentators have claimed that the Motorola Edge 50 Neo isn’t as small as they’d like. And yes, it’s not the smallest Android on the market. But judging by the survey, few people would shy away from the Neo because of its size.
Price is a bigger issue, with the Neo costing €500. Motorola phones regularly get big discounts, so a little patience could solve that problem.
There is just one problem that cannot be solved – people would like to see a better chipset than the Dimensity 7300. It is a fairly cheap chip, but the 8000 series or a Snapdragon chip would be beyond the Neo’s budget.
We’ll see how the 7300 fares in our benchmarks along with the rest of the phone, including key features like the LTPO display and 10-megapixel camera with 3x telephoto lens. Expect a full report soon.
