vivo V40 and V40 Pro debut with large batteries in ultra-thin casings

The vivo V40 and vivo V40 Pro became official today, bringing significant improvements to battery capacity while maintaining their ultra-slim bodies. New camera setups and design are also part of the package.

The vivo V40 inherits the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor from the vivo V30, while the vivo V40 Pro has taken a big step forward and now has the Dimensity 9200+ chipset, which is significantly more powerful than the Dimensity 8200 that powered the previous three vivo V Pro phones.

The V40 and V40 Pro have the same dimensions (164.2 x 74.9 x 7.58 mm) and the same display – a 6.78-inch AMOLED with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels.

The screen now reaches a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, which is a huge improvement over the same-sized panel in the V30 series. The panel has a punch-hole for a single 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 camera.

On the back of the V40 Pro there’s a 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX921 sensor, a 50MP telephoto portrait camera with a Sony IMX816 sensor, and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera with an unnamed sensor.

The standard V40 model makes do with two cameras on an island that the company says are inspired by the star constellation Gemini – a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera.

The main cameras have OIS and the AI Aura Light Portrait feature activated with a ring LED flash.

The phones ship with Funtouch OS 14, based on Android 14. The company promises “50 months of smooth operation,” which means the length of software support. The batteries are also promised to last 1,600 full cycles and retain at least 80% of their original capacity, extending the life of the phones.

More impressively, the V40 and V40 Pro have 5500mAh batteries – the largest in the vivo V series. They also support 80W FlashCharge fast charging via cable.
