South superstar Vijay’s upcoming movie The Greatest of All Time aka GOAT has started with a bang even before its release. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the action entertainer is slated to hit the silver screens on September 5. Ahead of its release, domestic advance bookings have already minted ₹12.44 crore as of Tuesday (September 3) 4 PM. Sacnilk’s report. The report added that after blocking the seats, the total is ₹15.66 billion. Advertised as a sci-fi thriller, GOAT is believed to be one of Vijay’s last films before devoting his time fully to politics. In February this year, Vijay, known as Thalapathy to his fans, announced his entry into politics by forming a party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
On the first day of domestic ticket sales The Greatest of All Time has sold about 5.79 lakh tickets for the Tamil 2D shows, about 7,000 for the Telugu 2D shows and about 2,600 for the IMAX 2D shows, bringing the total advance sales to about 5.9 lakh tickets, according to Sacnilk.

According to Sacnilk’s report, the film has crossed the million dollar mark overseas. In the US, advance ticket sales for the film have reached around $300,000, the report added.
