Filming took place in Búzios, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, and in the interior of Bahia. Historically, Rodrigo Santoro is a lonely fisherman Crisóstomo, 40 years old, who feels the emptiness of not having a son and meets an orphan, Camilo, whom he decides to raise to fulfill his dream of becoming a father.

Read the synopsis of the book “Children of a Thousand Humans”:

Loneliness, for Chrysostom, is the child he lacks. At the age of forty, the fisherman decides to look for his lack. He will find in the young Camilo, orphaned by a dwarf, the opportunity to fill the empty half, and in Isaura, abandoned because she is not a virgin, the possibility of being more than complete. With eccentric characters like humans, who carry their tragedies with lyricism and naivety, the famous Valter Hugo Mãe inhabits a coastal village where life is led with simple sadness and the hope of love gives rise to small but firm joys, because it is built with the possible.

In addition to Santorothe actors Rebeca Jamir, Johnny Massaro, Miguel Martines, Juliana Caldas, Grace Passô, Inez Vianna, Lívia Silva and Antonio Haddad also stars. The script and direction are complete. Daniel Rezende (from “Nobody Tá Looking” and “Turma da Mônica: A Série”).

“Son of a Thousand Men” is the fifth novel by Valter Hugo’s Mother – the first after the so-called lowercase tetralogy – and was published in 2011. The author has won the Portugal Telecom Prize and was nominated for the Oceanos – Portuguese Language Literature Prize.
