Hacker Iranians sent emails containing materials stolen from former US President Donald Trump’s campaign to people associated with Joe Biden.
The move will be made before the country’s president gives up his bid to run for re-election. The information was released on Wednesday, 18, by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the Cyber Defense Skills Academy (CISA)
In a joint statement, the agencies said the actions were aimed at “sowing discord” and influencing the electoral process in North America.

According to the agencies, “Iranian malicious cyber actors” sent “unsolicited” emails in late June and early July to individuals associated with the Biden campaign. The emails contained excerpts from documents “stolen and unpublished from the Trump campaign.”
Biden withdrew from the race for re-election on July 21. His running mate, Kamala Harris, is the Democratic candidate for the White House.
“There is no information to suggest that these recipients responded,” the agency said. According to the statement, since June, Hacker Iranians sent “stolen and non-public materials related to former President Trump’s campaign” to US media companies.

“This malicious cyber activity is the latest example of Iran’s multi-pronged approach, as noted in the August joint statement, to sow discord and undermine confidence in our electoral process,” the note said.
“Foreign actors are ramping up their electoral influence activities as November approaches,” the text added. “In particular, Russia, Iran, and China are seeking to exacerbate divisions in U.S. society for their own benefit and view the election period as a vulnerable time.”
Kamala’s campaign team says they were not aware of receiving documents from Trump
Kamala Harris’ campaign spokesman told Reuters news agency that she was not aware of any materials being sent directly to her or other Democratic committee members.

Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations (UN) said the US agencies’ allegations were “baseless and completely unacceptable”.
Iran has said it has “no motive or intention to interfere in the US elections.”
