The Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) has announced Nike as the new sponsor and equipment supplier for the Uruguayan National Team. The American takes over the position that was occupied for years by Puma, which will leave its uniforms at the end of 2023.

The German side tried to renew the contract with their country, while Nike, Adidas and Kelme submitted proposals to Uruguay, which opted to Hissing sound between four options. Although the value of the contract and its duration have not been disclosed so far, local press reports that negotiations will continue at least until the 2026 World Cup.

During the period without PUMA, the AUF struggled to renew the contract or find a new supplier due to clauses in the old contract. The Uruguayan National Team began using Nike kits regularly during the Copa América and in June this year, they announced an exclusive edition kit with the brand for a friendly against Mexico.
