Unofficially: Elements of a Russian weather balloon were found near Pisz

Elements of a Russian weather balloon were probably found near the town of Pisz in the province of Warmia-Masuria. The place is under police surveillance.

Elements of a presumably Russian weather balloon have been found in the forest near the town of Pisz in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. According to RMF FM journalist Piotr Bułakowski, this is measuring equipment only – no parachute or balloon cover.

The place is already secured by police. Of course the device will be examined, but this probably part of a Russian weather balloon.

Yesterday, a similar balloon was found in a tree near Dobre Miasto. Police guarded the object, which was found about 20 km north of Olsztyn, throughout the night.

He was found by forest guard officers near Orzechów, near Dobre Miasto. No one saw the object fall, so it cannot be said that something fell or that it was a balloon.. What we are facing will probably become clear soon – said Jacek Wilczewski, press officer of the Olsztyn police.

He admitted that the object found “may be a weather balloon.” We will only know for sure after examining it.

On Wednesday night, firefighters immediately examined the object to make sure it was not a radiant or dangerous object.

This morning, the suspicious object was removed from the forest and the police will investigate it under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Wilczewski added that there was no army at the scene.

The RMF FM reporter determined that the item was probably a Russian weather balloon. There are inscriptions in Cyrillic on it.

Objects of this type have been found several times in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship this year.

The weather balloons found were launched from a station near Königsberg.
