Based on a video, the Ukrainian judicial system suspects the killing of 16 Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian army. The Kiev prosecutor’s office spoke of a suspected war crime. She said that a video clip appeared on Telegram channels on Tuesday. The photo was allegedly taken from the front near the besieged city of Pokrovsk. Russian forces are advancing in the region.

“The video shows captured Ukrainian soldiers emerging from a forest under enemy control,” the statement said. After they lined up, the occupiers deliberately opened fire on them. As for the wounded who still showed signs of life, they were killed at close range with an automatic weapon.”

Justice examines the video material

There were no other sources about this process. The judiciary said that the materials are being examined. If the case proves true, according to Prosecutor Andriy Kostin, it will be the worst case of killing of Ukrainian prisoners of war on the front. According to a recent United Nations report, soldiers on both sides are most at risk of being ill-treated or killed the moment they are captured.
