At around 4:30 p.m., the vehicle carrying 58 students was “laid alone on the side” of a departmental road in the town of Chauconin-Neufmoutiers, a firefighter from the Ile-de-France department told AFP.
Two teenagers were evacuated by emergency services to the Parisian Trousseau and Robert Debré hospitals, in serious but non-life-threatening condition, added the source, who said that around sixty firefighters were deployed to the scene.
“Shoulder pain”
Two teenagers were “seriously injured”, including one with “shoulder pain” while “twelve others had minor injuries”, a police source confirmed.
“The driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs,” Meaux prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier told AFP on Monday evening.
“The driver said he lost control of his vehicle due to road conditions,” Mr. Bladier added.
Analysis of on-board devices will make it possible to determine how fast the bus was traveling at the time of the crash, prosecutors said.
