The shooting occurred shortly after 11 p.m. in the city of Iris, in the 14th arrondissement of the second largest city in France.
According to information from BFM Marseille Provence and the newspaper “La Provence”, the victims, all men between the ages of 25 and 35, were at the association’s headquarters, which was the target of shooting with a Kalashnikov assault rifle. The two fatally injured victims died instantly.
A burning car was found shortly afterwards in the same area, but it was not confirmed whether it was the one used by the attackers. The Marseille prosecutor’s office was contacted and had not yet responded Sunday morning.
Mobile phone is unknown
The motive behind the shooting was not known, but many cities in the northern regions of Marseille suffer from poverty and drug trafficking. A young man was shot dead in the same city of Eres on July 10, in a possible “Norwegian murder,” against the backdrop of drug smuggling.
