After a surprise comeback on Wednesday the 18th, X, formerly known as Twitter, went offline again this Thursday. The drop came after a new order from the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) that established the blocker of the social network.

The ruling follows Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), who ordered the blocking of Elon Musk’s network for not having legal power in the country.

A issued a note criticizing X’s stance for changing site providers, thus allowing the illegal return of the social network to Brazil.

“With the active support of telecommunications providers and Cloudfare, it was possible to identify mechanisms that will hopefully ensure compliance with the determination, with the re-imposition of the blockade requiring the agency to take appropriate action,” the statement said.

Cloudflare “isolated” X traffic, allowing the blocking without affecting other institutions and companies using the same network. If this had not been done, the blocking could have also affected the websites of the Federal Supreme Court and private banks.

The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) informs that, throughout 18/9, it was found that the social network X was accessible to users, despite the court decision handed down by the Federal Supreme Court. With the active support of telecommunications providers and the company Cloudfare, it was possible to identify the mechanisms that, it is hoped, will ensure compliance with the determination, with the re-imposition of the blockade. The actions of Network X show a deliberate intention to ignore the STF’s orders. Any new attempt to circumvent the blockade will require the Agency to take appropriate measures.
