TVP3 regional band centers cut economy, financial problems RTV subscription compensation

Currently, TVP3’s regional bands can be watched at: 8:00-10:00, 14:30-15:00, 16:30-16:45, 17:00-20:00 and 21:25-22:00. According to our information, only two blocks prepared by the centers will be broadcast starting Monday, September 2 (15:30-19:30 and 21:00-22:00).

Telewizja Polska explains that the changes are consistent with the Charter of Duties, approved by the National Broadcasting Council. The document shows that the regional band should last from 5 to 8 hours a day, and the common band from 16 to 18 hours.

The time limit for regional channels is not the only change in TVP3’s programming. Among others, the following will disappear: the breakfast program “Bom dia”. From 7:30 to 8:20 the station will broadcast “Manhã com TVP Info”. The channel will also broadcast “Ligações Perigosas” and “Panorama” broadcast by the news channel. In the regular channel, TVP3 will focus on news and cultural journalism, and will not broadcast reruns of Turkish or Brazilian series.

TVP in difficult financial situation

The public broadcaster decided to give less time to the regions for financial reasons. – This decision was necessary for economic reasons, which is particularly important in the current financial situation of Telewizja Polska (freezing of funds from RTV’s licence fees). The new TVP3 schedule format will significantly reduce TVP’s production costs and allow the company to utilize its own resources more effectively. In addition, this decision means greater order in TVP3’s programming – two local bands per day provide greater opportunities to attract and retain viewers. Telewizja Polska is in the process of restructuring – explains Telewizja Polska.

TVP is among the public media companies that still do not receive money from radio and television license fees. After President Andrzej Duda vetoed the budget bill, the public broadcaster cannot count on compensation support. Public media are therefore financed only by the budget reserve and advertising.
