TVP Info shortly after the change of management of Telewizja Polska on December 20 last year. stopped broadcasting. It was restored on December 29, and since then the station’s programs have been broadcast from the headquarters of Telewizja Polska at ul. Woronicza, and not, as before, from the headquarters of the Television Information Agency on Powstańców Square Warszawy.
A small group of journalists and people from the previous TAI management remained in the building on Powstańców Square until mid-January. PiS MPs visited them there regularly.
On January 24, Telewizja Polska liquidator Daniel Gorgosz sent a pre-judicial payment claim to TAI’s former director Michał Adamczyk and his deputies Samuel Pereira and Marcin Tulicki. He claimed PLN 1.35 million with interest for causing interruptions in the broadcasting of TVP Info and TVP3. Due to the failure to comply with these claims, the public broadcaster filed a lawsuit in early March.

Tomasz Sygut, general director of Telewizja Polska, announced in an interview with “Gazeta Wyborcza” that The newsrooms of TVP Info and TVP1 and TVP2 will no longer return to the TAI headquarters. – The building on Powstańców Square is old, low and non-functional. In terms of security, it is also not the best – he calculated.
– Several presidents tried to move Powstańców Square to Woronicza, but they failed. We succeeded. Moreover, due to the occupation of this building by PiS MPs, we had no choice – he added.
TVP wants to sell the building in Plac Powstańców
Currently, the studios at TAI headquarters are used by TVP World, Belsat (as we have already reported, their services are broadcast from the former “Wiadomości” studio), TVP Polonia and TVP3 Warszawa. – Ultimately, everyone will be transferred to Woronicza, and the square may be sold. – said Sygut.
In mid-June, we reported that Telewizja Polska was looking for a company in a public tender to transfer equipment from the former TVP Info studio in the TAI building to the broadcaster’s headquarters. This studio was opened in November 2018, the main element of its scenography was a 22-meter LED wall with a size of 18 million pixels. The total cost was PLN 16 million.

Tomasz Sygut highlighted that Other TVP properties that are not currently used for television production but generate costs may also be put up for sale. – This money could be invested in a new building and, most importantly, in technology. In the next two years, at least PLN 200 million will be needed for new vehicles, cameras and broadcasting units. And also for IT infrastructure – said the company’s CEO.
New logo and TVP Info studio
From September, TVP Info will be broadcast from a new studio at ul. Woronicza. According to Tomasz Sygut, the public broadcaster earned money for its construction thanks to savings. – In the first half of the year alone, without canceling any programs and rationally planning expenses, we saved almost PLN 360 million – he stressed.
TVP Info will also get a new logo and antenna design. However, changing the channel’s name is not an option for now.because the National Broadcasting Council would have to agree to it. – Some of these people visit us, but I often hear that the Info logo brings back their worst memories – Sygut admitted.
In the first weeks after the resumption of broadcasting in the new version, TVP Info did not display any information bars or stripes at the bottom of the screen. The stripes were restored in the second half of January.
In the new version, TVP Info has an audience two-thirds smaller than before. According to data from Nielsen Audience Measurement, in the first half of 2024, the broadcaster’s average audience per minute was 74,429 viewers, and the audience share was 1.32%. (compared to 4.66% a year earlier).
Viewers of TVP Info to TVN24 and TV Republika
Tomasz Sygut admitted that in the years 2016-23 many former viewers of TVP Info including himself changed to TVN24. – They got used to it eight years ago. They have their favorite programs and journalists – he notesl.
On the other hand, a large part of TVP Info’s viewers from the PiS government period started watching TV Republika, which quickly became the second news channel. – I wish they had stayed. That they didn’t give us a chance. That they rejected it on principle, without looking at what and how we do it. – Sygut admitted. – We have to do our thing. Patiently and consistently. There is no other way. This is being built from scratch. It takes time, – emphasized the TVP CEO.

Sygut said he is proud of the program “7:30”, which aired in the second half of December last year. It replaced “Wiadomości”. – This is a very well done diary. Once I move to the new studio, it will be a finished product. – said the manager.
– I believe it will become the most watched news site in the country. Furthermore, public television cannot be held hostage by audience ratings, because then instead of demanding programs or shows like “1989”, we should broadcast an offer that is easy to read – he noted.
In June this year, “19:30” was watched by an average of 1.28 million people: 1.07 million on TVP1, 159.5 thousand on TVP Info and 50.4 thousand on TVP Poland. A year earlier, “Wiadomości” had an average of 2.08 million viewers (data from Nielsen Audience Measurement).
TVP’s new logo is a symbol of change
The logo of all Polish television will also change, but probably not soon. – Time and money are needed. Kurski has made this wonderful company the least credible media brand in Poland. We want to change that, Sygut said.
