TSE approves sending military personnel to 12 states in first round of elections

O High General Election Court (TSE) unanimously approved the deployment of federal military personnel to strengthen security at polling stations in the first round of municipal elections, which will take place on October 6. In total, 12 states will be covered.

Last Tuesday, the 24th, the TSE analyzed 53 processes related to the request for federal troops in the first round. The ministers granted the request previously approved by the Regional Electoral Court (TRE) and the state government.

The capitals of Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Teresina (PI), Campo Grande (MS), Fortaleza (CE), Rio Branco (AC), Cuiabá (MT) and Belém (PA) will also receive federal troops in the first round. The request for assistance by the Electoral Court has been regulated by law since 1965.

Requests approved by TSE are forwarded to Ministry of Defenseresponsible for planning and executing Armed Forces actions.

  • Rio Grande do Norte.
