Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is safe after shots were fired “near him,” his campaign said. The Secret Service, which protects senior U.S. officials, including sitting and former presidents, also confirmed the incident, but like the Trump campaign, it declined to provide further details.
At the time of the incident, the former president was at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, USA on the afternoon of the 23rd (local time). At first, it was completely unclear what exactly happened and whether Trump himself was in danger. The American media reported contradictory stories.
