In a conversation with NDTV, director Venkat Prabhu revealed what inspired him to use the de-ageing technique. The director said, “This is the first time we have used anti-aging technology in a film. We learned about this technique a few years ago. It was also used in Gemini Man, which was made by Will Smith, where they made a 50-year-old Will Smith look like he was in his 20s.”
The GOAT filmmaker said, “I thought it would be good to use this technique in this film to give a new feel to the audience. Even Jawan had used this technique with young and old Shah Rukh. We thought how different it could be from previous films where the same actor played a double role and father and son, I think we’ve achieved that.”
In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave the film 2.5 stars and wrote, “Vijay, fleshing out two distinct characters, one grizzled and sharp, the other rugged and tough, both scarred by the past, makes up for it all. The film lacks logic and flow. It’s the kind of save he’s made so often this millennium that it’s ceased to surprise his critics. The greatest of all time.”
