The Regional Electoral Court of Amazonas on Saturday (28) used army helicopters to transport electronic voting machines, technicians, military personnel and food to seven communities. This measure comes to advance the work date that was scheduled for next week, that is, one day before the 2024 municipal elections.

Due to historic drought in the Amazon, many communities have become isolated and do not have access to river transport, the main mode of transportation in the region. This year, 78 voting sites will be serviced by helicopter.

Flights operated on Saturday took 20 to 30 minutes to reach local communities. This Sunday (29), the aircraft will continue to transport ballot boxes and staff to the La Brea and Paweni locations, and operations are scheduled to extend throughout the week to other areas.

In the work carried out on Saturday, the following communities were served: São Sebastião de Flores: 665 voters

  • Buyukuzenyo: 170 voters
  • Angelim Community: 124 voters
  • Villa sales: 172 voters
  • NS do P. Socorro do Canavial: 382 voters
  • São Francisco da Boca do Cudagas: 149 voters
  • Santa María do Ijapo Grande: 225 voters

Total: 1887 voters
