France is tightening border controls until the end of April 2025 at the borders with Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Italy. French Prime Minister Michel Barnier, who took office last month, recently announced the measure to combat illegal immigration. In his view, France will no longer be successful enough in controlling its borders and implementing migration policy or in tackling cross-border crime.
The TLN spokesman could not yet predict what consequences the measure would have for transport companies. “We’ll have to wait and see how things play out.”
