With the UK set to hit a scorching 37 degrees this coming weekend, many Brits are preparing to enjoy the sunshine in their gardens; However, unsightly patches on their lawn can spoil the view.
According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the occurrence of dead patches of grass is not uncommon across Britain and can be attributed to a number of causes including physical damage, fungal disease and drought.
Luckily, a gardening guru has shared an ingenious shortcut to revitalizing these stubborn areas in a matter of days.
Dog rescue center administrator Rickie Tice has shown on social media that lawn regeneration can be started using only water, toilet paper and plenty of grass seed.
Shared on TikTok under the handle @dabzndawgz, the clever tip involves soaking toilet paper in water and mixing it with a generous amount of grass seed to create a paste that they apply to affected areas.
The user advised: “Pour this over dead grass areas and check back in a few days.”
To the amazement of gardening fans, it took just three days for new, healthy green shoots to appear, with the grass reaching its full length in just five days, covering the soil below, reports the Mirror.
Judging by the humor of the revelation, the expert joked: “I’ve never been so tame in my life.”
Not only did their hack go viral, garnering an impressive 273,000 likes, it also drew positive comments from amazed fans.
One user enthused: “I did this too. It’s crazy how well it worked! Toilet paper keeps the moisture in.”
Another agreed: “We use this technique all the time, sometimes we even use cotton and plant it alone.”
The third asked, “Will the birds have it? I feel that the birds in my neighborhood are merciless and would eat it anyway,” to which the creator replied, “Not yet!”
“If you plant clover, it takes less water and helps save the bees – it also spreads like wildfire,” suggested a fourth.
