It was not a radioactive waste dump, but the workshop of a teenage genius. On RMF FM we have new details about the discovery of several dozen radioactive substances in Siedlec, Greater Poland, last week.

There were radioactive substances and devices containing these types of elements in a room organized as a studio or laboratory – reports RMF FM reporter Krzysztof Zasada. They belonged – as it turned out – to a 16-year-old boy whom the police describe as a brilliant chemical and physical mind.

The devices included fire sensors containing radioactive elements that he recovered.

The investigation into what the teenager used these substances for is ongoing. Preliminary findings show that conducted several experiments.

He is known to have ordered devices and substances mainly online. They were brought to him by couriers, some of them he took from parcel lockers.

The family court will investigate whether a crime occurred due to the teenager’s age.

As a matter of routine, the Homeland Security Agency took an interest in the case. All the more so because – as a reporter from RMF FM found out – two flags were found in one of the teenager’s rooms – one from the Soviet Union and one from the Russian Federation.
