Ukrainian Security Service deputy and colonel Roman Kostenko told Italian daily La Stampa that his country receives “old weapons” from the West to use in its defensive war with Russia. He added that the “F-16s are not of great quality compared to Russian fighters.”
In an interview with the Turin newspaper, Kostenko, secretary of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence, said:
Ukraine took matters into its own hands, breaking through Russian defense lines, where it did not have many soldiers.
Is there room for further progress?
In his opinion, Ukrainian troops have the opportunity to advance further in the operation on Russian territory that has been ongoing since August 6.
One of the most famous Ukrainian military men and parliamentarians noted that only President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrski, and two or three other people “know the ultimate goals.”
But I can say that the attacks on Russia will continue, they are bringing benefits. The more enemy territory we control, the greater our chances of winning the war.

Entering Russian lands allowed us to divert the enemy’s attention from strategic points on our territory and strike more tactically. We are doing this very well, as everyone can see.

The purpose of the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant
He noted that the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant in Kurchativ is also a target.

In addition, HIMARS (systems) are not enough for us. The West does not supply us with very innovative weapons, but rather old weapons that do not give us the opportunity to respond. The F-16s are not of great quality compared to Russian fighters. There is no balance here.
