The towels are fluffy again after one wash by adding a natural item to the washing machine

If towels aren’t washed properly, they can become crunchy, wrinkled and scratchy to the touch, but there’s a simple way to make them fluffy again.

Towels often become stiff if the washing machine is overloaded and you have used too much fabric softener because residue starts to build up on the fibers, making them less absorbent.

Cleaning expert and founder of The DIY Mommy, Christina Denni, has said that the best natural way to restore towels is to add white vinegar to the washing machine.

She said, “If you notice your towels stiffening up, I find that adding distilled white vinegar with the detergent every so often helps detangle the towels and get them fluffy again.”

It may sound strange, but vinegar is acidic, which means it can break down alkaline residue on towels and make it easier to wash in the washing machine.

White vinegar is also a natural fabric softener because it helps to relax the fibers in the towels and reduce stiffness, making the towels fluffy again.

How to restore towels naturally and make them fluffy again

All you have to do is pour white vinegar into the detergent compartment of the washing machine.

Put the towels in the washing machine with regular laundry detergent, but avoid fabric softener.

Christina said: “Interestingly, I find that using too much fabric softener makes my towels stiff over time. Too much fabric softener accumulates in the towels over time.”

Put the washing machine on a regular hot water cycle, and the vinegar will help reduce the build-up on the towels during the wash.

When you’re done washing, shake the towels thoroughly before putting them in the dryer on low heat.

Christina said: “A little shaking of the towel after the wash cycle and before putting the towel in the dryer helps fluff the fibers.”

Another way to make towels fluffy again is to use dryer balls, as the movement gently collects fibers and breaks up the matte surfaces in the towels.

If you don’t want to use white vinegar, Christina recommends adding Oxiclean White Revive, chlorine-free bleach, or baking soda to your washing machine instead.

She said: “Hot water helps remove dirt and yellow tones from towels as it works alongside the detergent and oxygen bleach.”

Christina added, “If you don’t want to use oxygen bleach, try baking soda instead. Baking soda is a powerhouse that can clean almost anything!

Your towels are returned to their original fluffy state, so you never have to worry about towels again.
