The sixth flight of Operation Raízes do Cedro, with 212 passengers rescued from Lebanon, landed at Sao Paulo Air Base, in Guarulhos (SP), at 6:15 am (Manaus time), this Saturday (19). There are now more than 1,300 people, including Brazilians and Lebanese relatives of Brazilians brought in by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), who have fled the conflict between Israel and the Hezbollah group. There were 14 kids and a cat when they came down this Saturday.
About three thousand people have asked to come to Brazil since the war between Israel and Hamas spread to Lebanese territory at the beginning of the month.
Operation Raízes do Cedro has so far repatriated a total of 1,317 passengers, including 242 children, 40 infants, 138 elderly people, 12 pregnant women, 101 people with some health complication and 12 people with disabilities, in addition to 15 pets.
According to the agreement between Itamaraty and the Lebanese government, women, children, the elderly and Brazilians who are not residents of Lebanon have priority on boarding lists. Since October 4, the start of the rescue operation, FAB has operated daily flights between Brazil and Lebanon with a refueling stop in Lisbon, Portugal.
