Union Agency reported that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) arrested Oleksandr Skubich, director of the monitoring and auditing department of the state-owned Energoatom (which operates Ukrainian nuclear power plants).
Delivery of fuel in exchange for a bribe
According to co-author of the “Our Money” project, Yuri Nikolov, Skubic was detained next to the headquarters of the company from which he demanded a bribe of PLN 100,000. hryvnia (9,300 Polish zlotys).
The question remains open: will the SBU investigators now turn to Peter Kotin, who is the head of Skopich (and the entire Energoatom)? “Because it is now no longer possible to claim that there is no corruption at Energoatom,” Nikolov commented. Sources added to the newspaper “Ekonomizna Pravda” that the official requested a bribe in exchange for enabling the delivery of fuel.
Energoatom confirmed that a “company employee” was arrested while accepting a bribe. The administration said that the detained employee, thanks to his connections, was supposed to “help” another company in solving the fuel supply problem and was an intermediary.
