A plane from Moscow has landed unexpectedly at Warsaw Chopin Airport, Interia reported. “The pilot reported that the machine had navigation problems,” Piotr Rudzki, a member of the Warsaw airport press team, told RMF FM.

The incident occurred on Sunday night. He landed at Warsaw airport Airbus A320 Turkish Airlines Pegasuswhich was flying from Moscow to Istanbul.

According to Piotr Rudzki, the plane had to land in Warsaw in an unplanned manner for technical reasons.

The pilot reported navigation problems. He decided he could not continue the journey with passengers. Rudzki reports. He adds that the plane landed safely. It was not an emergency landing. No assistance from airport services was required – informs Rudzki.

Passengers were transported to a designated area in the terminal where they awaited the arrival of the Turkish carrier’s second plane.

This plane arrived around 3:00 a.m. The passengers continued their journey trip to Istanbul – says Rudzki. When asked if all the passengers had already boarded, he said: I assume so, I have no information about anyone leaving the airport premises.

Let us recall that after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022, the European Union closed the airspace to Russian carriers. However, Russian passengers can still travel across the EU on board aircraft belonging to other companies that are not registered in that country. The ban does not apply humanitarian or search and rescue flightsor cases where the machine must make an emergency landing.
