The Border Guard recorded 270 attempts to illegally cross the border with Belarus last weekend. Another six people suspected of helping illegal border crossings were detained.
Most people tried to cross the border illegally on Saturday – about 150; on Friday, over 60, and on Sunday also over 60 – the Podlaski Branch of the Border Guard (POSG) in Białystok summarized in a statement.
Migrants attempted to cross the border in the area where the Border Guard posts in Białowieża, Bobrowniki, Narewka, Dubicze Cerkiewne, Krynki, Płaska, Czeremcha and Szudziałów operate. In the sections of the border covered by the Border Guard posts in Bobrowniki and Krynki, migrants attempted to reach Poland via the border river Świsłocz.
There were also three attacks on Polish services over the weekend. Migrants tried to force their way into Western Europe with stones. No one was injured in the incidents.

Stopping the smugglers
Border guards detained six more people: organizers and helpers of the illegal border crossing.
They tried to transport migrants who had already entered Poland, contrary to regulations, into Europe
– Zdanowicz informed.
The Border Guard reported that it also provided assistance to two foreigners who required medical care.
The POSG summarized that in August there were more than 2,200 people in the area of operation of this Border Guard unit who attempted to illegally cross the Belarusian-Polish border.
Buffer zone
From June 13, a 90-day buffer zone with a ban on staying will be in force for about 60 km from the border with Belarus in the Hajnówka (Podlaskie) district. For more than 40 km, it is not allowed to stay in a strip 200 meters wide from the border line, for 16 km the strip is approximately 2 km wide.
