Actor Tanuj Virwani and his wife Tanya Jacob are expecting their first child. The baby will be born in September. In an exclusive chat with NDTV’s Hardika Gupta, the actor spoke about his initial reaction after learning about his wife’s pregnancy. He also said he was “extremely excited” to embrace fatherhood. Tanuj said: “We’re excited. Tanya is coming at the end of September. Ever since Tanya and I decided we wanted to settle down and have this life together, having kids was definitely part of the conversation. It wasn’t a matter of ‘Let’s see what happens.’ I’ll be 38 in November, Tanya is now 32 and will be 33 in October, so we felt it was the right time, and we know each other well enough.
Tanuj said it was a “planned pregnancy,” adding, “It was planned. We tried, and I guess we just got lucky sooner than expected. When she did the home test and told me, ‘I’m pregnant,’ it was the most incredible, surreal feeling. It was an emotional moment when we weren’t in Bombay, but when we got back, we told both my parents, and then we went to the gynecologist, and you go through the ultrasounds, and you think, “Oh my God, this is really happening.” It’s been a beautiful few months, and I consider myself very lucky.”
When asked if she is nervous or excited about the new chapter, Yoda the actress said: “I’m not nervous at all – I’m very excited. Everywhere we go, people ask about our baby, whether it’s our friends or family. Everyone has their own input, so after a while we were like Boys, calm down. There’s a lot of thought about getting ready, but you also don’t you don’t want to be too prepared, you want to enjoy the moment.
Let’s discuss preparations for a small income Inside Edge star said: “The only challenge is a race against time as we try to get our home renovated to be as baby-ready and baby-friendly as possible, including setting up a Nursery. But we’re really excited. In fact, a couple of weeks ago we had a really cute baby shower at home. It’s not about not only the birth, but also the whole beginning to that moment. It’s a very different feeling.”
Reflecting on her parents’ reaction to the news, Tanuj Virwani said: “They were over the moon and said, ‘Oh my God, you’re really moving so fast; we’re just coming to terms with the fact that our son has got married and now we’re going to be grandparents. They were amazed that, how quickly things happened, my mom and dad are really, really happy.
For the uninitiated, Tanuj Virwani and his longtime girlfriend Tanya Jacob got married on December 25.
On the professional front, Tanuj Virwani made her Bollywood debut Luv U Soniyo In 2013. He has since appeared in films such as Purani Jeans, One Night Stand and Yoda. The actor has also appeared in several web series including Inside Edge, Poison, Code M, Illegal – Justice, Out of Order, The Tattoo Murders and Cartel.
Her upcoming projects include Murshid opposite Kay Kay Menon and a quirky film titled Johnny Jumperdirected by What a virus directed by Saurabh Varma. This film also stars Vijay Raaz, Brijendra Kalra, Zakir Hussain and Zarina Wahab and is expected to release in a few months. Also, Tanuj will perform on the Applodit show DAU Mumbai (Mumbai Domestic Anti-Terrorism Unit)starring Rahul Dev. He is also working on a tentatively titled rom-com Puppy Lovefeaturing Tridha Choudhary, Divya Agarwal and Nikki Tamboli. In addition, he is filming the second season of the film Rana Naidu alongside Rana Daggubati, Venkatesh and Surveen Chawla, among others.
